The 91-year-old is following doctors orders.
He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.
The Redheaded Stranger will hopefully be cleared to rejoin the tour for its June 26th stop in Virginia Beach.

Despite his age, Nelson is adamant that he hasno plans to retire from touring.
At least, not if he can help it.
I have everything I need on the [tour] bus, Nelson toldAARPlast year.
I never have to go into a hotel room anywhere.
Its not that bad."
Working is really good for me, he added.
