During their two hour lunch meeting, Yin took a leap and pitched them an internship.

Did you know?

I love everything it stands for, your mission, your products.

Everything seemed to click into place. And although her pitch was pretty casual, it was successful.

She planned to expand the wholesale program, create an ambassador program and increase media presence.

Why Yins Pitch Worked

Some of the keys to her success?

Yin knew her strengths and found actionable ways to apply them to the companys needs.

Give first, andthenask for a mutual thing in return, Yin suggests.

But this tactic might not work for everyone.

Another takeaway from Yins story:You have to be willing to ask for what you want.

Talking to strangers doesnt come easy to everyone.

It sure doesnt for me.

But none of this wouldve happened for Yin if she hadnt taken the first step to reach out.

But Yin knew how to overcome her nerves.

In fact, Yin is on track to becompletelystudent-loan-free before she graduatesin June.

And before you ask, no, she doesnt live with her parents.

After reading Ramseys Total Money Makeover a gift from the Ledbetters Yin was inspired to gain financial freedom.

She also continued to apply forscholarshipsafter enrolling in school, which earned her about $10,000.

People should really go after the grants andscholarships, Yin explains.

It really is free money.

Its worth the investment to take that time to apply.

When she graduates in June, shell work for Ledbetter full time but shes staying in Oregon for now.

Since shes prioritizing her financial freedom, she wants to think hard before investing in a move.

Plus, Denver as you may have heard is snowy.

Im not really a snow person, says Yin.
