Strawberries should come with a warning label that says Handle With Care.
Unlike thick-skinned fruits like bananas and oranges, they are delicate, tender, and highly perishable.
Storing them properly and using them quickly, before they spoil, is key.

But when they arein season, and freshly-picked, they are oh, so worth the trouble.
For the best flavor and texture, plan to eat the fruit within three to four days.
Or the same day, ideally.
The FSGA says strawberries taste best when they are at room temperature.
