When Is The Gray Man Seen On Pawleys Island?
It is said that those who heed his warnings will ride out the storm safely with their property undamaged.
In the past 200 years, six hurricanes have hit the shores of Pawleys Island.
Hurricane Hazel in 1954 and Hurricane Hugo in 1989 claimed an estimated 119 lives between them.
According to locals, the Gray Man appeared before each of the six storms.
When To Evacuate For A Hurricane
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30.
As summer approaches, coastal residents are advised tocreate a survival kitand a plan to stay safe.
Mandatory evacuation orders are not issued lightly.
