Lyles shared a heartfelt message to his late coach on Twitter following the news.
Hey coach, We did it.
We reached the top!
he wrote alongside photos of the two of them.
I always thought that you would be here to see when I reached the peak though.
I guess you will have to know you are watching from heaven.
Im so glad our paths crossed because [I dont know] who I would be if they didnt.
I Love you man.
He hasnt lost that race since finishing third at the Tokyo Games three years ago.
We know Jackson will be watching.
