Top this rich hot chocolate trifle with a sprinkle of chocolate curls.
Make the components a day in advance, then assemble the trifle the day of your dinner or party.
Grease (with butter) and flour 3 9-inch round cake pans.

Microwave 2 to 2 1/2 more minutes or until melted, stirring every 30 seconds.
Add egg yolks, 1 at a time, beating until blended after each addition.
Add melted chocolate and vanilla, beating at low speed just until blended.
Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Beat at low speed just until blended after each addition.
Wash and dry beaters.
Beat egg whites:
Beat egg whites at high speed until stiff peaks form.
Cut cake layers into 1-inch cubes.
Assemble trifle:
Layer one-third of cake cubes in a 4-qt.
Top with one-third each of Chocolate Ganache and Marshmallow Topping.
Microwave 3 to 3 1/2 more minutes or until melted, stirring every 30 seconds.
Stir in up to 1/4 cup cream, 1 Tbsp.
at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
Recipe Note
Reserve 3/4 cup ganache to serve with trifle.
