The mezcal and white wine drink is a play on a highball cocktail, with lots of added smokiness.
If that smoky flavor isnt for you, Stinchcomb says tequila would also work just as well.

Ingredients
1Tbsp.
)mezcal(or tequila blanco)
1Tbsp.
)simple syrup
2dashesoflemon bitters
6Tbsp.
(3 oz.)
Stir for 30 seconds.
Pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a wine glass; discard ice.
Add wine, and garnish with lemon peel.
