Milk cartons may become bloated in the pasteurization process, says Schneider.
The notable exception, explains Schneider, is clostridium botulinum, but this doesn’t typically grow in milk.
One thing to consider is that the issue could be with contaminated packaging.
The packaging is supposed to be aseptic, right?
This can cause bloat.
If you see a funny-looking carton at the store, choose a different one, advises Schneider.
