When things get down to the backing of the carpet, you have an issue.
Misty Pooleis the owner ofSteamatic Restoration & Cleaningin Little Rock and Hot Springs, Arkansas.
So dont waste a moment!
For example, saltis often recommended to sop up red wine from carpet.
However, Poole strongly advises against using this method.
While salt may effectively absorb the wine, it can damage your carpet.
It will soak up the wine, but the abrasiveness of salt is a problem.
It’s kind of like rubbing sandpaper on the carpet, says Poole.
Salt can damage the carpet fibers, so I would stick to liquid products.
Not all liquid products are created equal, though.
It all comes down to chemistry, she says.
Carpet cleaners available in stores are usually pH neutral or alkaline, which wouldnt be effective in this case.
