“Last fall I had a favorite shovel whose metal blade was starting to crack.
“Being my shovel of choice, I was reluctant to buy another.
The wooden handle was worn smooth after years of use and it fit my hands just right.
Carvalho recycled each part of her beloved shovel.
‘“There are often places that will recycle metal and plastic tool parts,” she says.
“Your regional Home Depot will accept non-functional batteries from power tools and dispose of them properly.”
