Question Of The Week: You say bad things about privet.
Now in Georgia, we have four nicely groomed privets.
What say you now?
Garden Gardener Answer:I don’t care what you’re using for privet, I hate privet.
I make no apologies about it.
Now some people up North, they like it for making hedges and things like that.
And it just takes over.
verify that the ground is ready.You want to give the tree a good start.
So, it would be great if everyone had beautiful, rich, loose, fertile soil.
Most of us don’t.
So how do we get around that?
So what you want to do is dig a nice, big hole.
When I say, “Big hole,” here’s what I mean.
As deep as the root ball is, but absolutely no deeper.
And you’re going to put the tree right in the center of the hole.
And they say, “Well, shouldn’t I mix something in to make the soil better?
They’re going to grow way out into your yard.
